My role as President of Think Tank Sports Analytics Club involved frequent communication with coaches, communication with club members, running meetings, and a lot of sports analytics.
During my time as President, I was lucky enough the secure partnerships with the women’s basketball team, men’s basketball team, and men’s baseball team for the club.
In order to keep the partnerships and foster them, many deadlines and frequent adaptations to the club’s analytics were required. Here is what I contributed to each team we partnered with:
Women’s Basketball Team

This shows the Synergy Editor application where I created a text overlay for the coaches to hat included every metric I measured so that they could have a film clip associated to each play that I did analysis on for each game.

This is the Excel sheet I created with all the play-by-play data from each game.

This dashboard shows the shooting percentage (with makes in light blue) based on the metrics I collected data on, including movement leading up to the shot, player shooting or primary defender on the defensive side of the ball, distance, play type, setup play, and court position of each shot. The dashboard also included filters for each metric as well as shot clock time remaining and game so that the coaches could have more information on their team.

This shows the bullet-point list I would share with the coaches about for days prior to each game so that they could use this opponent analysis to develop their gameplan.

Here is an example email I sent after their game against UNH.
Men’s Basketball Team

My Excel spreadsheet included the offensive possessions and defensive positions with the player listed. The offensive side was the Bryant player shooting the ball and the defensive possessions are the primary defender for Bryant. I also collected data on metrics including shot clock time remaining, distance, setup play, play type, movement, defensive pressure, and help defense presence at the time of the shot.

This dashboard displays the data from the Excel spreadsheet above in an easy-to-read manner with the light blue being shot made percentage and the dark blue being shot missed percentage, so it shows shooting percentage overall. These dashboards were created for the offensive and defensive side of the ball for 2-pointers and 3-pointers.

This dashboard shows the frequency of shots being taken at each shot clock remaining amount to show how early in the shot clock the Bryant team is shooting.
Men’s Baseball Team

Here is an example of one of the leaderboards showing team averages and leaderboards for the pitcher’s K/BB ratio, whiffs, and total strikeouts and walks allowed. This dashboard also has filters based on the metrics measured by the team.
